Based at the University of California, Berkeley’s Graduate School of Education, the Bay Area Writing Project is the founding site of the National Writing Project, a network of close to 200 sites nationwide in the United States. Through its mission, the National Writing Project (NWP) focuses the knowledge, expertise, and leadership of educators on sustained efforts to improve writing and leaning.
The Bay Area Writing Project of UC Berkeley, sponsors a variety of Youth Writers Camps every year in numerous locations in the Bay Area. The camps offer children of all ages a unique opportunity to develop their creative abilities and writing talents. In a relaxed camp atmosphere, students will receive specific writing instruction and conference individually with staff to build and reinforce their writing skills. In recent years, BAWP has expanded internationally to offer the Writing Project model in South Korea and Singapore.
